Had problems with delays or disruptions on airplane trips throughout 2024? If so, you may be entitled to financial compensation.
The warning is issued by the lawyer Anton Radchenko, as cited by Notícias ao Minuto, which explains that, according to EU legislation, passengers can receive between 250€ and 600€, depending on the distance of the flight and the duration of the delay.
Specialist in defending consumer rights in the aviation sector and founder of AirAdvisor, a startup dedicated to the topic, the lawyer clarifies that there is a regulation that allows you to request compensation.
According to Radchenko, the first step in situations like this is to contact the airline's customer support service to obtain detailed information about the reason for the disruption, preferably in writing. He also advises to keep all documentation and evidence and not to accept vouchers or gifts as a replacement for the refund.
"It is common for these vouchers to include clauses that not only exempt the airline from the obligation of refunding the ticket but also make the passenger waive any compensation for the flight cancellation," warns.
Regarding refunds, the amount depends on how far in advance the flight was canceled and the distance of the trip, ranging from 125€ to 600€. Let's see next.
