Deadline to pay the last installment of IMI ends this month.
The deadline for payment of the last installment of the Municipal Property Tax (IMI) is approaching. Pay attention to the date.
If the IMI value is above 100 euros, you must pay the last installment shortly.
When the annual amount of the Municipal Property Tax (IMI) is greater than 100 euros, the payment is divided into installments. The last of these installments must be paid by November 30th of each year.
Therefore, if you own a property and have not yet settled the last part, pay attention to this date to pay the third installment of this tax!
How does the IMI payment work?
IMI is calculated based on the Tax Asset Value of the properties, with the rate defined by the municipality where the properties are located. Depending on the total amount of tax to be paid, IMI can be paid in one, two, or three installments.
- Up to 100 euros - Single payment in May;
- Between 100 and 500 euros - Divided into two installments, in May and November.
- Above 500 euros - Divided into three installments, to be paid in May, August, and November.
Last installment of IMI: How to pay?
If your annual IMI exceeds 100 euros and you still have an installment to pay, it is important to remember that the deadline is November 30th.
To check the amount of IMI you still have to pay, access the Finance Portal with your credentials, go to the "IMI" menu, and check the information about the installments. The portal also provides the option of issuing the collection note for payment.
This payment can be made in a practical way through the tax portal, Multibanco, or at CTT and bank counters.
What happens in case of payment delay?
If the last installment of IMI is not paid within the deadline, it may incur fines and late payment interest. These additional costs increase the debt, making the final amount higher.
Therefore, if you still have a property tax installment to pay, do not forget to do so by the deadline, in order to avoid additional charges and keep your tax situation regularized.
