To rent or buy a house, the effort rate of families increased in the second quarter of 2024, compared to the second quarter of 2023.
According to a study by Idealista, released by Notícias ao Minuto, Portuguese families looking to buy or rent a home currently have to make increasing financial efforts.
Renting a house now requires a greater financial effort compared to last year, increasing from 77% to 82% in the second quarter of 2024, and buying a house is also increasing from 66% to 70% in June this year.
The cities where families in Portugal made the most effort to rent a house were Lisbon and Funchal, considering that the cities where the effort rate increased the most were Portalegre, Ponta Delgada and Vila Real. On the other hand, the cities where the effort rate to rent a house decreased were Beja, Funchal and Guarda.
To buy a house, the cities that required the highest financial effort were Funchal, Leiria and Bragança, and those that required the lowest effort were Viana do Castelo, Évora and Coimbra.
