More expensive houses in January compared to December 2023.

The rise in house prices in January is already known: In total, the increase reflected in 0.8% compared to the previous month. Per square meter, the price was 2,582 euros, according to the idealista price index, cited by Notícias ao Minuto.

The largest increase was observed in Leiria, with 2%, followed by Santarém, with 1.9%, and Lisboa, with 1.4%.  

"This is a scenario visible in almost the entire Portuguese territory, as houses became more expensive in nine district capitals between December and January, with Leiria leading the increases (2%). Regarding the annual variation, house prices in Portugal rose 6%", as stated in the press release shared by Notícias ao Minuto.

Note that Lisbon remains the most expensive city to buy a house, now costing 5,516 euros per square meter. Next is Porto with 3,484 euros per square meter and Funchal with 3,228 euros per square meter.

Following Faro (2,920 euros/m2), Aveiro (2,506 euros/m2), Setúbal (2,268 euros/m2), Évora (2,010 euros/m2), Viana do Castelo (1,884 euros/m2), Ponta Delgada (1,881 euros/m2), Coimbra (1,839 euros/m2), Braga (1,776 euros/m2), Leiria (1,442 euros/m2), and Viseu (1,410 euros/m2). The most affordable cities are Guarda (784 euros/m2), Castelo Branco (867 euros/m2), Bragança (924 euros/m2), Beja (929 euros/m2), and Santarém (1,208 euros/m2), as reported in the news.
